About Us

The Yoga Desire Story

We are Taz & Jono the co-founders & team behind Yoga Desire (YD).

We have been living in Derby in far Northern WA for approximately 6 years and we opened the YD Studio in September of 2017. The Kimberley is our home. In June 2019 we also launched Kimberley Yoga Attire, a collaborative project with Mowanjum Aboriginal Art & Cultural Centre that supports local Aboriginal artists in Derby and supports us to continue to support their extensive community in far Northern WA through Yoga and Meditation.

Our Sankalpa (intention) is Yoga Desire. We have the desire to bring the tools of Yoga and Meditation to Remote Australia. Our mission is to make yoga accessible, inclusive and approachable for every body who comes along to our offerings.

We choose to practice Yoga & Meditation in a way that is gentle and kind in respect of ourselves, others and the Aboriginal Land that we stand on.

Taryn's Yoga Quals include:

  • 350hrs Yoga Australia Registered Yoga Teacher
  • 110hrs Association of Meditation Australia Meditation Facilitator
  • Level 1 Yoga for Fertility Teacher
  • Yoga for Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Teacher.

Taryn loves teaching Gentle Flow, Restorative & Mindfulness Meditation classes.

Jono is the backbone of YD:

  • Assists Taryn to guide students during class
  • YD handy man & tech support
  • Main chef for workshops & retreats

Jono loves guiding walking meditations in his permaculture garden.

We would love to meet you!

Love Taz & Jono x
